Dear Sussex County Residents,

Now serving my 12th year as Freeholder, I remain committed to serving the citizens of Sussex County.

During 2011 our County, along with the Nation, experienced troubling economic times. The Freeholder Board and Administration reaffirmed our vows for an even more effective and efficient County government. The County excelled in promoting shared services, not only with municipalities, but with other counties, as well. We have made difficult economic decisions and have had wonderful cooperation from the CWA accepting a salary freeze in order to save jobs and help the county meet our two percent cap.

As Human Services and Social Services liaison I have witnessed triple the number of needy families who are coming to the County for help and guidance to resources. Through the generosity of Sussex County citizens in food drives in area high schools and Stuff the Bus initiatives, our Food Pantry continues to be a source of sustenance for hundreds of needy families in crisis, many of whom, last year, were donating to the food pantries.

I am proud to be serving on a Freeholder Board that works collaboratively to solve problems, create solutions and increase efficiency on a tight budget. I look forward to serving the County of Sussex in the coming year. I have made the decision to retire from the Freeholder Board at the end of 2012, at the conclusion of my fourth term.
